Freshly arrived in England, piano virtuoso William is ready to conquer. Unfortunately though, the piano school he's applying for is not impressed. Neither is William's mother, who thinks her son is wasting his life in pursuit of a nonsense dream and is not afraid to tell him as much.

William's dreams are hanging in the balance, and just when he thinks things can't get any worse, he finds himself lodged at a jaded hotel, where, from the look of the many wall-mounted photos and certificates, the owner's son is clearly a successful musical prodigy, everything William wants to be.

However, all is not as it seems. As his relationship with the kindly hotel owner Peter develops, William starts to realise that the grass is always greener and that his dreams are still very much within reach.
