Imagine you're young, beautiful, happily married and a first time mother-to-be. You're living the dream right? Well, not if you're Mary Deenbury. For Mary, far from being a dream, life is descending rapidly into nightmare.

Ever since falling pregnant, Mary's husband and former love of her life, Adam, seems to have forgotten she exists; he treats her like nothing but a walking incubator for his precious son and heir, the crowning glory for a man with the perfect high-flying career and trophy wife.

The disconnect between them leads Mary first to despair, then despondency, and then to look elsewhere for comfort. The problem is, 'elsewhere' turns out to be her husband's brother 'Damien', black sheep of the family and, to Adam's mind, a bit of a loser.

As Mary struggles with postnatal depression and the affair picks up pace, her life starts to spiral out of control. Meanwhile, Adam can only watch on, helpless, as his dream of the perfect family life takes a serious nosedive.

Still, at least he doesn't know about the affair, right...?
